The free Path Checker

What's my path? Your state, your age, your total cost.

Every state runs this test its own way: a different test in Iowa and Maine, a different price in Arkansas ($4 a subject at a center) and South Dakota ($50), free testing in New York, no online testing at all in six states, and an age exception hiding under the standard age in almost every state. Tables make you interpret all of that yourself — and the tables disagree with each other. This checker computes it for your exact case.

Your path, computed

Tell it your state, your age, and which test you lean toward. It answers with the tests your state offers, the per-subject and total cost, online vs. test-center, the retake rules and the worst-case retake cost — and the cheapest legal path, stated plainly. No login, nothing uploaded; it runs on this page, in your browser.

Under the standard age in your state? The result names your exception path (the waiver or permission route) instead of just saying no.

How to read the answer: the cheapest legal path is stated first-class because neither test maker will state it. "Legal" matters: an online score from a state that does not offer online testing, or a test taken under the age rule without the exception paperwork, does not earn the credential. Where a figure in your state is flagged unverified, it came from a secondary table rather than the official page — the flag travels with the number, here and on your state page.
